About Zeno
Meet a New Friend
David Hanson takes the idea of robotic characters to an only dreamed of level of reality, fusing for the first time intelligent relationships, experiences, excitement and adventure between humans and RoboKind.
With Zeno, we’ve eclipsed the presence of robotic technology and gained the feeling of expressive life through a very intelligent and real simulation of muscle and skin response to gestures and movements. We’ve built in interactions that enable people to have a life-like relationship with someone who recognizes you. Zeno not only hears you, but listens and talks to you too.
That’s why we call Zeno the world’s first complete character robot – because the leading vision, speech, speech recognition, animation, artificial intelligence and artistry define the integrity and underlying character of Zeno. This in turn allows him to exist as a fantasy character that moves and communicates with you with true personality traits.

I am 49 years old. My favority cartoons were Popeye and Astro Boy.
I am glad to see Astro Boy’s cousin in the 21th century. He may help us
get rid of Al Queda.

I’m very interested in seeing if you’d bring Zeno to the Maker Faire in Austin, TX, October 20-21. I can tell you more about our event, which is associated with Make magazine.

So why the name ZENO? That’s my family name… Geez .

Zeno was the name of a philosopher from about 500 B.C. that David Hanson admires. David thought that naming his son and the robot after Zeno was an appropriate connection to the philosopher’s concepts.

I cannot wait to purchase one. It is time we leaped into the future with a positive creative mind. I am 44 yrs old and will get one. Astroboy was a favorite cartoon of mine when I was a kid and A.I. one of my favorite movies. I want to see the future

Wow, you’ve come a long way. After reading everything you have published to date and after reading that he can recognize faces and creat a relationship, I got a chill. I can see a day when my san Aidan grows up and leaves home and Zeno asks
” Where’s Aidan?”

I will be the first to get one also if they do indeed come to be available. The thought of having Zeno learn from the ‘net and be able to hold inteligent conversations is revolutionary. What a great teaching tool for just about anyone. Being able to recognize you from others adds to the bond.
Exciting - it is time to jump to the future. Technology builds upon itself. In a few years, can you imagine what Zeno will become?! We’ll be sitting back and saying.
“Son, yes, I had one of the original Zenos. Great companions for those long evenings at the office…”
Problem is… I want one now. 2 or 3 years from now is agony.

I really wish to get a Zeno in the future… and I was wondering if Zeno will be brought to Asia for sale…

We will definitely be exploring that possibility.

Cool name!! Hey it’s kind of weird to see my name, the only other Zeno that I know is my father. DR. Hanson how did you come up with the name?? Nice to see the name used elswhere.

David Hanson admires the work of the philosopher Zeno who lived in about 500 B.C. So, David decided Zeno was a great way to honor the original Zeno.

Would it be great if Zeno had his own chair that he could locate and sit in when he was running low on batter power, and maybe when you called on him and he was say just 1/3 charged he would say something like “Man I’m still tired” or somthing like that. Just a idea I think a robot with his design should have more then just pluging into a charger.
Thanks
AJ

I’m already in love with Zeno…and i barely even know the guy. Ha.
I can’t believe i’ll have to wait 3 years!!!! Grr…Arrg.
Are you guys going to leave his body the way it is or are you going to human it up some more? Also, i hope you guys end up giving him an actual boy voice instead of that weird verizon wirelss voice thing you’ve got going on there.
Anyways, love it. Keep up the awesome work!

I read it’s able to lean by connecting to a pc or directly to internet:
I would like to know if I download into him information that could be extracted simply by asking him, like a personal assistant, so that when I have a doubt on some work related issue, I could simply ask him.
I have in mind to use him in my future phisiotherapy office as a information reference for me and as a way to letting my younger patients have answers to their questions transforming a rehabilitation session in something more fun for the children.
